I once was a post-doctoral researcher at UC Berkeley working with Hyron Spinrad et al. in the field of observational cosmology. My work mainly concerned optical, IR, and radio imaging/spectroscopy of the high-redshift universe, with the aim of probing the early history of galaxy formation.
| Aug 2005 to present | Post-doctoral research in observational cosmology with Hy Spinrad, et al., UCB. |
| May 1999 to Aug 2005 | Graduate research in observational cosmology with Hy Spinrad, et al., UCB. Performed deep spectroscopy of narrowband-selected, high equivalent width Lyman-alpha emitting galaxies at redshifts 4.5 and beyond. Identified high redshift galaxies in the Hubble Deep Field via their optical spectroscopic properties. Identified high redshift galaxies in the Lockman Hole (a region of very low neutral Hydrogen column density) via their photometric properties in B, R, I, and z. Pursued IR imaging and optical spectroscopy of steep and moderate spectral index radio sources in a continuing effort to determine the luminosity function of high redshift radio galaxies. Supervisor: Hy Spinrad et al., UC Berkeley Dept. of Astronomy, 510.642.5275. |
| Sept. 1996 to June 1997 | Honors undergraduate research program in physics, UCI. Identified a Seyfert II galaxy behind the LMC. Produced undergraduate thesis investigating its optical variability and the consequent implications for the unified model of AGN. Presented at UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium and at the Southern California Conference on Undergraduate Research. Supervisors: Jon Lawrence and Tammy Smecker-Hane, UCI Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, 949.824.4561. |
| June 1996 to Sept. 1996 | Undergraduate research in astronomy with MACHO project, LLNL. Conducted a search for quasar candidates in the direction of the LMC via their signature light curves. Supervisor: Charles Alcock, LLNL, 510.423.0666. |
| June 1995 to Sept. 1995 | Undergraduate research in plasma physics, UCI. Assisted in minor maintenance of the Irvine Torus and its related vacuum, coolant, and fiberoptic systems. Supervisor: Roger McWilliams, UCI Dept of Physics and Astronomy, 949.824.4561. |
